Flipkart label and invoice sorter
A sorter is not a fancy name for a cropper. It is the step between “thirty A4 sheets in marketplace order” and “a stack of labels in the order the desk packs them”. This page is the workflow, the settings that matter, and the cases the tool refuses instead of guessing. The tool itself is on Flipkart label crop; every control named here is on that page.
What a label sorter actually does
A marketplace label PDF is one A4 sheet per order, in whatever order the marketplace decided, with the shipping label above a dashed cut line and the tax invoice below it. A sorter does four things to that file: it crops each sheet to the label, it separates the invoice when the invoice should not go on the parcel, it reorders the pages so the physical stack matches the way you pack, and it prints one label per page instead of one A4 sheet per label.
That is the whole idea. Anything beyond it — a picklist, a date stamp, grouping by packaging type — is a variant of “reorder the pages so the desk works in one pass”.
A 30-label batch, step by step
Thirty orders arrive as thirty A4 sheets. With the label and the invoice separated, that is sixty output pages: thirty label pages and thirty invoice pages, in the order you chose.
- Download the day’s labels as one PDFFrom Flipkart Seller Hub, download the labels for the orders you are dispatching. One PDF with every sheet is what the sorter expects — you do not need one file per order.
- Upload it to the Flipkart cropperOpen /flipkart and add the file. A single request takes up to 20 files and 100 MB combined; a typical 92-page label PDF is a few megabytes.
- Choose the output layout“Label + invoice separate” gives a label page and an invoice page per order. “Thermal · 4 × 6 inches” prints one label per roll page. “Exact crop” keeps the label at its measured size instead of scaling it.
- Choose what the batch is sorted bySort by courier for the handover table, by SKU for picking, or by Sold By if you run several storefronts. Group Non-Plastic (NPP) orders when packaging differs.
- Add the picklist if you pick in one round“Generate Dispatch Picklist summary table” appends an itemised SKU and quantity sheet, so the whole batch is picked before any label is stuck on.
- Crop once and downloadOne crop produces the sorted PDF. Download it within 30 minutes — after that the temporary file is deleted and the batch has to be cropped again.
Sort by SKU, by courier, or by order ID
The sort you choose should match the next physical action, not the report you like looking at.
- By courier: the pile splits per courier, which matches the handover at the end of the day. Best when the courier pickup is the bottleneck — Valmo, Ekart and Delhivery collect separately.
- By SKU: identical products sit together, so you pick all of one item and pack it in one run. Best when picking is the bottleneck, which it usually is above about 50 orders.
- By Sold By: for sellers running several storefronts or brands from one account, so each storefront’s labels do not interleave.
- By original order (default): keeps the marketplace’s own sequence, which is right when you are matching labels against a printout from the seller panel.
- Order ID filter: pin specific orders to the top, the bottom, or output only those — useful for the three orders a customer chased this morning.
A picklist beats all three when the answer to “where is this item” is not on the label. Sorting tells you the order of the stack; a picklist tells you what to collect before you start. Turn both on for a batch over about forty orders: pick against the list, then apply labels in courier order.
Removing invoice pages without losing the GST record
“Label + invoice separate” keeps the invoice on its own page; turning “Keep invoice” off writes label pages only. Neither touches the buyer’s invoice, which Flipkart issues, and neither changes a GST filing. It changes what you print — and it is worth downloading the invoice pages too, because a return or a lost-parcel claim asks for the same document weeks later. The full method, including page ranges and split-and-merge for mixed batches, is in Flipkart label without invoice.
Batch limits, honestly
- 20 files and 100 MB combined per request. That is the hard ceiling; a PDF above 100 MB is refused before it uploads.
- Three free label crops a day on the free plan. A crop of a 300-label batch is one crop, not 300.
- Two crop jobs at a time per connection. A second tab does not double your throughput.
- The output link expires after 30 minutes. A batch you cropped at 10 am is gone by lunchtime and has to be cropped again.
- Cropping needs a signed-in account. It is not an anonymous tool, and no page here claims otherwise.
What breaks past a few hundred labels is not the crop — it runs on the server — it is your browser rendering the preview of a 400-page PDF on a laptop with 8 GB of RAM. The crop itself handles a few hundred pages comfortably; the preview is what gets slow, and it does not stop the output.
Mixed-layout batches: what works and what does not
One crop applies one geometry to every page. If a batch mixes the measured Flipkart layout with a different sheet — a re-sent label, an FBF box label, a download from a second seller account — the crop cannot be right for both, and the tool does not guess: a page smaller than the template is refused with “This PDF does not match the measured Flipkart sorter size”.
The honest workflow: split the file where the layout changes (Split PDF), crop each part with the settings that fit it, then merge the outputs back in dispatch order (Merge PDF). It is two extra steps and it is the only way to get both halves right.
Privacy: confirm what actually happens to the file
The PDF is uploaded. Cropping happens on our server, not in the browser, and the page says so instead of claiming a local-only crop. What you can verify yourself, in two minutes:
- Open DevTools → Network, filter to Fetch/XHR, and run one crop. You will see a single POST to /api/crop carrying the PDF as multipart form data — and no other request carrying it.
- Open DevTools → Application → Cookies and look at the session cookie: it is what ties the free crop allowance to your account instead of to your IP address.
- Disconnect from the network after uploading and try to crop. It fails, because the crop is not running in your tab — which is the proof that a server-side crop is what you are getting.
- Ask for the download link to expire: 30 minutes later it is dead and the temporary file is deleted.
Flipkart vs Meesho vs Amazon batches
The three marketplaces need different handling, but the answer a seller needs is the same: what comes out, how it is sorted, and what to print it on.
| Flipkart | Meesho | Amazon | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What comes out | Label page and invoice page per order, invoice kept in order | Label page and invoice page per file, cut at the sheet’s own line | Label crop with adjustable margins |
| Sorted by | SKU, courier or Sold By | SKU, courier, Sold By or Valmo groups | SKU or courier |
| Print on | 4 × 6 thermal roll, A4 sticker sheet or exact crop | 4 × 6 thermal roll or A4 sticker sheet | 4 × 6 thermal roll or A4 sticker sheet |
| Where to do it | /flipkart | /meesho | /amazon |
Where to go next
The measurements behind the template are on Flipkart shipping label size, and the print settings that keep the sorted stack scannable are in how to print Flipkart labels. Meesho batches behave differently and live on Meesho label crop.
Label sorter questions
Does the sorter need a login?
Yes. Cropping runs on our server and the free allowance belongs to an account, so you sign in before the first crop. The free plan allows three label crops a day.
Is there a page cap?
Per request: 20 files and 100 MB combined. There is no separate page counter, but a single PDF larger than 100 MB is refused, and the preview — not the crop — is what gets slow on a very large file.
What happens to the invoice pages?
By default they are written to their own pages, rotated 90° on Flipkart so they read across a portrait page. Turn “Keep invoice” off to output labels only; the buyer’s invoice still comes from Flipkart.
Can it handle 300 labels?
Yes. 300 sheets is one crop and usually a couple of files. Download the output within 30 minutes, and expect the in-browser preview to be slow on a low-RAM laptop even though the crop itself is fine.
Can I sort by SKU and by courier at the same time?
No — one sort applies per crop. Run the batch twice with different sorts if both packing and handover need their own order, or sort by SKU and use the picklist for the picking step.
Does it match separately downloaded label and invoice files?
Yes, for Flipkart: “Pair separate Labels & Invoices PDF (OD# match)” takes the two files and pairs them on the order ID. Upload the label file first and the invoice file second.
